About NAEIR

NAEIR is the National Association for the Exchange of Industrial Resources. We serve as a conduit between companies with excess inventory and nonprofit organizations, educators, and churches. We are a Galesburg, IL-based organization with a 450,000 sq. ft. warehouse, where we obtain, catalog, and redistribute donated inventory under IRC Section 170 (e)(3) to our membership base of educators, nonprofits and churches.

Our Mission and Vision

NAEIR is dedicated to serving our members and donors with helpful, friendly, and caring service with a smile.

Integrity

If it’s not worth doing right, it is not worth doing. We are dedicated to doing the best thing for our members and the right thing for our donors.

Service With a Smile

It is not just what you say, it’s how you say it. You won’t find friendly customer service anywhere. That’s a promise.

Philanthropy

The world is a better place when we all help people in need.

Empowerment

We believe people with a passion can accomplish anything with some resources from NAEIR and a little help from their friends.

Resourcefulness

There is a use for everything when you think outside the box. Some of the greatest ideas are inspired by unexpected treasures. It just takes creativity.

Flexibility

Some of the best stuff doesn’t fit into neat packages. We bend to accommodate a variety of people and things.

A Brief History of NAEIR

NAEIR has a proud history rooted in generosity and resourcefulness, connecting businesses with surplus inventory to nonprofits, educators, and community organizations. Founded in 1977 by Norbert C. Smith, NAEIR started as a small venture dedicated to arranging donations of equipment and supplies. Joined by his wife in this mission, the Smith family grew NAEIR into a nationwide operation, relocating to larger facilities to meet the increasing demand. By 1986, NAEIR settled into its expansive headquarters in Galesburg, Illinois, enabling it to serve a growing network of members.

Over the decades, NAEIR has achieved remarkable milestones, including publishing its first product catalog in 1987 and reaching $1 billion in total product donations by 1999. Today, with over 60,000 members nationwide and more than $4 billion in donations facilitated, NAEIR remains committed to helping nonprofits and educators access the resources they need to empower their communities, all while turning excess into opportunity.
